Schnittstelle: Cutting pointSchnittstelle: Cutting point
This work was also part of these four works for the “Muthesius Art School”””. A performance, where the photographies aren’t the main or the only constituent but only proofs of what happened during the performance. But it is surely really important to make clear what this words of “Schnittstelle” in German and “cutting point” in English are meaning –more specifically, what these words mean for me and for this work. It means also “gateway” and has inspired me to the idea of a frontier between life and death. And so was the idea generated, to give a performance – to go after midnight to a cemetery in the neighbourhood, alone, as a young woman age 18. The result are the strange photography’s –no wonder, I took them during the ride on my bike, really in a hurry. But these photography’s are nothing in comparison with the feelings of loneliness and reached borders, of being for a few minutes at the edge of two worlds, of “front” and “backside” during the performance. And these feelings of reaching ones own limits were what I was searching for during this work. Own feelings and limits as an answer for art. “Cutting point”, life and death, day and night, young and old, the living and the dead. An attempt to grasp the essence of meaning of time.
